Veronique MacRae, Student Intern

The youngest of four children to George M. MacRae Jr. and the late Deborah A. MacRae, Veronique first realized her calling to the ministry during her undergraduate studies.  Nevertheless, as she sought clarity, she continued to pursue her theatrical career, eventually returning to her birth city of New York to perform professionally.

Upon her return to North Carolina, due to the illness and eventual passing of her mother, Ms. MacRae felt the pulling of God once again to enter into seminary to further discern her calling.  She was accepted into the Divinity program at Duke University and began her studies in the fall of 2008.

Ms. MacRae desires to continue creating works that promote social justice, empower youth, speak life and glorify God; using her God given gifts to visualize the living word of God through the arts in order to speak life to the nations. In the fall of 2009, Veronique will perform in her latest play, “Self-Portrait of a
Sinner" in Durham, North Carolina and New York, opposite Terrence Winborne and Aqueelah Roberson.

A graduate of North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina with a B.A. in Theatre, Veronique began her theatrical studies at the age of thirteen with the Hillside High School Performing Arts program of Durham, North Carolina under the leadership of Wendell Tabb. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Act Trinity Performing Arts Company in Durham, North Carolina; she is currently a Masters of Divinity Candidate at Duke Divinity School (Duke University) in Durham, North Carolina.

She is grateful for the opportunity to discern her call to the ministry within the local church at St. Matthews UMC this summer.  The outpouring of love and generosity she has received upon her arrival is graciously appreciated and she is looking forward to a powerful and life-changing experience this summer.
